Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known by her highly commendable performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her an Oscar. The accomplished actress started her career as an actor in the theatre by performing in a myriad of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. In her early years, Helen Keller was her favourite character in a fifth grade production. Mumps led her to lose hearing in one her ear, however this did not stop her from following her dreams. In her teens, Hunter studied drama and eventually moved in New York City. In a chance encounter she was trapped in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which made Hunter's debut. After moving into Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered the role of a co-star on Swing Shift. Her professional career spans over thirty years and she's appeared in many TV movies or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
